Margate

Walks in Margate: all the fun of this East Kent seaside holiday resort, with its beaches and amusements, originally developed as a Londoner’s holiday area. The resort has a lot of facilities with a theatre, cinema’s, golf, fishing and good beaches. The interesting parish church, St John, has many brasses. The Theatre Royal dates from 1787.

Margate keeps all the picture-postcard promises for golden childhood holidays, timeless sandy seaside appeal, bucket-and-spade fun, candyfloss, and fish and chips. It’s also fizzing these days with cultural renaissance in the beautiful Old Town with its galleries, quirky shops and trendy new café scene.
